As you know, this website is created to share a recipe and bring foreigners to learn to cook Lao food and the story behind each plate. Soum in Lao means coming together or gathering, while Khao means rice, food, or a meal. When combining these two words, creates the meaning of gathering to eat food, enjoy the moment eating with family and friends, and have a conversation together. The word Soum Khao is more friendly and sounds like connecting. So, let soum khao together when finishing cooking the meal. 

The logo is a picture of a bamboo dining table or bamboo dining tray which is the traditional Lao way of serving meals. Pha Khao represents Lao, and until today Lao people still use it on special days, holy days related to the Buddhism festival, and use it to be a dining table (in some households). I design this logo to reflect the culture of Laos and want to bring people's attention to Lao cuisine. It is a table that creates an unforgettable moment for family and friends and connects with each other even more.
